Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs believes their big-name signings will give the Red Devils a lift

Ryan Giggs admits that Manchester United are lacking confidence after underperforming for the past 12 months.

The Red Devils are still searching for their first Premier League win under new manager Louis van Gaal after recent draws at Burnley and Sunderland.

However, United signed Monaco striker Radamel Falcao on loan on the final day of the season just days after Angel di Maria completed a British record £59.7m switch to Old Trafford.

And Red Devils legend and assistant manager Giggs believes the new signings will give the whole club a lift and help restore confidence amongst the United squad.

“Confidence is a problem,” Giggs told the Telegraph.

“It’s not easy at times, especially at Old Trafford where we’ve not performed really for over a year now. Funnily enough away from home there’s not been the same problem.

“We need to get that sorted as quickly as possible. When you see players of that ilk coming into the club it’s exciting. Whether you’re a player or a coach it gives you a buzz. You want to play with the best players and you certainly want to coach the best.”
