Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker has undergone lower abdominal surgery, Spurs confirm

Kyle Walker has undergone lower abdominal surgery, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed.

The England full-back has been sidelined since for five months with the problem which ruled the Spurs defender out of this summer’s World Cup.

A Tottenham statement read: “Kyle Walker has undergone lower abdominal surgery.

“The England right-back’s pre-season preparations were disrupted by the abdominal injury and the decision to have surgery was taken following further medical assessment by specialists.”

Walker racked up 50 appearances in all competitions last season, but the right-back hasn’t featured for Spurs since a 3-1 loss to Portuguese side Benfica in the Europa League in March.

And the 24-year-old, who signed a new deal to keep the England defender at White Hart Lane until 2019 last October, took to his Instagram to update Spurs fans on his progress.

“On the road to recovery after surgery,” Walker posted on Instagram.
