Tottenham’s Ben Davies: Danny Rose competition will improve me
Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is relishing his left-back battle with Danny Rose at north London side
Ben Davies believes his rivalry with Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose will make both of Spurs’s left-backs better players.
Mauricio Pochettino signed Davies in a £10m deal from Swansea City in the summer transfer window after the full-backed penned a five-year deal at the north London side.
Whoever does get it at the end of the day we are supporting the team and we’ll support each other
The Wales international forged a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most promising left-backs after three seasons in the first-team.
The 21-year-old is competing with England defender Rose for a first-team spot – and Davies is relishing their battle to impress Pochettino.
“This competition is going to help us both,” Davies told Tottenham’s website.
“It is going to make us both better players, hopefully, and that’s all we want to do as professionals.
“Danny has been great to me and it is a competition between us.
“We both want that jersey, but whoever does get it at the end of the day we are supporting the team and we’ll support each other. That’s the way it is going to be.”
