Luke Shaw could make his Manchester United debut against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday after recovering from a hamstring injury, Louis van Gaal has confirmed.

Shaw is yet to feature for the Red Devils following his transfer from Southampton but could play against the Hoops at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal also confirmed that midfielder Marouane Fellaini is out for up to a month, while Phil Jones also remains sidelined.

Van Gaal said: “When I left for the international break it was 10 [players injured] so only one is back – Shaw.

“Shaw is fit enough to play but not the whole game – there is a difference. [Marouane] Fellaini is longer than a month and [Phil] Jones is maybe three weeks or a month.

“[Michael] Carrick is not ready but he has run for the first time on grass, which is unbelievable after eight weeks. [Sam] Johnstone has elbow problems, [Chris] Smalling is not fit enough but he shall train tomorrow with the second-team squad for the first time.

“[James] Wilson and [Reece] James are not ready yet, and [Jesse] Lingard and [Ashley] Young are also injured.”
