Alexis Sanchez is expected to face Manchester City at The Emirates on Saturday, and Arsenal supporters will hope the Chilean is in more prolific form after missing a sitter while on international duty.

The 25-year-old forward scored his first Premier League goal as Arsenal drew 1-1 at Leicester City following his £35m move to north London from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

However, Sanchez forgot his shooting boots on Wednesday night as World Cup quarter-finalists Chile took on minnows Haiti in an international friendly at Lockhart Stadium in USA.

The Gunners signing, who has netted two goals since his big-money switch to the FA Cup winners, fluffed a simple volley in the six-yard area much to the surprise of his team-mates.

Sanchez played 86 minutes of the friendly as Juan Delgado netted a first-half winner to spare Chile’s blushes after a goalless draw with Mexico on Saturday.

The South American could be joined by fellow summer signing Danny Welbeck in Arsene Wenger’s side to face City.

The former Manchester United striker enjoyed a more productive international break, scoring twice to help England secure a 2-0 win in Switzerland.
