Wayne Rooney has taken to his Facebook page to voice his belief that Manchester United will eventually hit top form under Louis van Gaal.

The Red Devils slumped to their second Premier League defeat of the season on Sunday as they suffered a shock 5-3 loss to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

That result left United with just five points from their opening five games under the Dutchman, who was appointed as David Moyes’ successor in the summer.

However, Red Devils captain Rooney has warned that United cannot be written off so early in the season.

“There seems to be a lot of people who have written us off because of Sunday’s result but I don’t see it that way,” Rooney wrote on Facebook.

“When I look around our dressing room and see the quality we have and the manager’s unbelievable attention to detail I have no doubts this team will be successful.”

United take on West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday in their next Premier League game.
