David Gold revealed that he couldn’t sleep as he was still “buzzing” after West Ham United sealed an emphatic 3-1 victory over Liverpool at Upton Park.

Hammers duo Winston Reid and Diafra Sakho put the east London side into a 2-0 lead inside seven minutes before Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling halved the deficit in the 26th minute.

Brendan Rodgers’s side struggled to break West Ham down in the second half, and Hammers substitute Morgan Amalfitano sealed three points in the 88th minute.

The east London side moved into eighth position in the Premier League table courtesy of their victory, and Hammers co-owner Gold was thrilled with the result.

Gold and his fellow co-owner David Sullivan demanded manager Sam Allardyce bring a more attacking style of football to West Ham this season after the Hammers were criticised last term.

And the West Ham chief is confident that Allardyce’s side can replicate their performance against Liverpool again.
