Lukas Podolski says he will seek talks with Arsenal and Arsene Wenger about his future at the north London club.

The 29-year-old foward has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Emirates Stadium in recent weeks and is yet to start a league game for the Gunners this term.

Now, the World Cup winner has said that he wants assurances about his situation at the club.

“I have a contract with Arsenal through 2016, and fit in with London and the fans very much,” Podolski told Sport Bild.

“Nevertheless, I want to play football and am not the type of player who sits on the bench until his contract runs out.”

Podolski added that he would “seek a conversation with the coach and the club and see what is best for both parties.”
