Arsenal’s Mesut Özil wishes Arsene Wenger ‘blissful’ 65th birthday
Mesut Özil hopes Arsenal's present for their manager is three points at Anderlecht
He may be sidelined with a knee injury, but Mesut Ozil hasn’t forgotten to wish Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger a happy 65th birthday.
The Frenchman will have little time to celebrate the milestone as he readies the Gunners to face Anderlecht in Belgium on Wednesday night.
And Ozil, who joined Arsenal in a club-record £42.5m deal in 2013, is crossing his fingers that the Gunners squad can gift Wenger with three points.
Ozil wrote on Twitter: “happy birthday, #ArseneWenger :-) wish you a blissful day and three #ucl points in belgium tonight! #HappyBirthdayBoss #ANDvAFC”
The 26-year-old is set to be sidelined for the next 10 weeks after suffering ligament damage in his left knee during a disappointing 2-0 loss to Chelsea earlier this month.
Ozil was part of Germany’s World Cup-winning squad in the summer, helping Joachim Low’s men get past Lionel Messi and Argentina in the final.
However, the former Real Madrid midfielder has struggled in the opening weeks of the Premier League season, scoring one goal and making one assist in six top-flight games.
