Ashley Young wants to repay Man United manager Louis van Gaal
Manchester United winger grateful to have new manager's trust
Ashley Young is determined to repay Louis van Gaal after the Manchester United manager kept faith with the England winger.
Young, who struggled to make an impact under axed United manager David Moyes, has been given a chance to shine under the new Red Devils boss, occupying a left wing-back role.
However, the former Watford midfielder suffered an injury setback at the end of August, with a groin problem keeping the England international sidelined.
But the 29-year-old is eager to get back to first-team action after recovering from his injury blow ahead of the visit of Chelsea on Sunday.
“I just want to play the best I can. The manager has shown faith in me and I want to go out there and play well,” the England international told the Manchester Evening News.
“The injury was a setback. It’s disappointing for any player to get injured but I’m back fit now and I’m only looking ahead. I’m not looking back.”
The United winger has scored eight goals in 65 Premier League appearances following his move to Old Trafford in 2011.
