Brundle, Glock and more: Twitter reacts to Vettel’s Red Bull departure
Timo Glock and Martin Brundle both tweet their thoughts as Sebastian Vettel confirms he will be leaving Red Bull at the end of the year
While much of Europe was sleeping, at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka Red Bull Racing dropped the bombshell at 01:50 BST that four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will leave the team at the end of the season.
Just over 30 minutes later, news filtered out from Suzuka that the German is expected to join Ferrari with Fernando Alonso seemingly making way, but Ferrari aren’t expected to make a statement this weekend.
Amid all of the confusion, and speculation over where Alonso will race in 2015 and what knock-on effect it could have at McLaren, what we know for sure is that Vettel will be at another team on 1 December 2014 with Toro Rosso’s Dani Kvyat promoted to Red Bull to partner Daniel Ricciardo.
Here is the best of the Twitter reaction as the story developed.
An hour before he was due to commentate on Free Practice Three, Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft was in a spin.
So what next? Vettel to Ferrari, Fernando to McLaren, Sainz Jnr to Toro Rosso or Jev stays and where does this leave Jenson for 2015?

BBC Sport’s Lee McKenzie offers insight into Red Bull’s thinking behind the decision to promote Dani Kvyat.
Horner tells me Vettel only told him last night he was leaving. They didn't speak to other drivers. The ethos is to promote young talent.

As the breaking story continues, speculation is rife as to when Ferrari will confirm Vettel’s signature with Fernando Alonso departing and where the Spaniard is heading to.
Christian Horner tells @tedkravitz Vettel told him Thurs night that he was leaving & then states that Seb will be a Ferrari driver next year

Even ex-Formula 1 driver Timo Glock struggles to comprehend the news.
Wow there are some crazy news out there…. Is it true or I am just dreaming at that early time in the morning… VET leaves Red Bull?
