Daniel Sturridge reflects on his Liverpool injury woes
The Liverpool striker feels that his injury troubles could be genetic
Daniel Sturridge believes that his recent injury struggles could be hereditary as the Liverpool striker continues his recovery from a calf strain.
The England international has not featured since picking up a thigh injury while on international duty at the start of September.
Maybe it’s my body type, maybe it’s hereditary
The 25-year-old then suffered a further setback earlier this month when he suffered a calf problem in training.
And the striker believes that his body type and genes could be to blame for his recent spell on the sidelines.
“I play my game as best I can but I’ve been unfortunate this season,” Sturridge told talkSPORT.
“Maybe it’s my body type, maybe it’s hereditary. Both my uncles had injuries and my dad had them as well.
“Maybe it’s the Caribbean vibes, maybe I have speed but maybe it makes you more vulnerable because of the fast twitch muscles and the speed in which you’re moving.
“I am vulnerable to muscle injuries. As long as I continue to work hard, everything will take care of itself.”
