De Gea’s eye-catching form has prompted reports that Real Madrid will make a big-money move for the 23-year-old as los Blancos look to replace Iker Casillas.
And former United midfielder Sadler isn’t surprised to see the ex-Atletico Madrid goalkeeper thriving at Old Trafford.

“He’s always had a good goalkeeping head on him. I spoke with Alex Stepney when De Gea first came to the club and Alex said there was a bit of something about him.
“Yes, he was getting knocked around a bit but that wasn’t always going to be the case. I thought there would come a time when he was as good as anything else there is out there.
“And since the end of his first year with United he has been, if not the best keeper in the Premier League, up there with the top one or two.
