House of Cards star hails Andy Murray's 'amazing win' in Valencia
Kevin Spacey is a long-term Andy Murray supporter, so it was no surprise to see the Hollywood actor enjoy the British No1’s brilliant Valencia win on Sunday.
The Scot had to save five match points before sealing a 3-6 7-6 (9-7) 7-6 (10-8) win against Tommy Robredo in three hours and 19 minutes.
Murray’s Valencia Open triumph helped to cement his spot at the ATP World Tour finals, lifting him up to fifth in the race for a place at The O2.
And Spacey, who was at Flushing Meadows to see Murray win his first Grand Slam in 2012, heaped praise on the 27-year-old after his thrilling win via his Facebook page on Monday.
Murray paid tribute to his opponent Robredo after the win on Sunday.
“What a night! Tommy is a great guy and and played a great match, I’m just so pleased that I was able to win through,” Murray posted on Instagram.
“Heading to the airport shortly so I can get to Paris for some much needed rest before my first match next week. Thanks for your support as always. #ValenciaOpen500 #tennis”
