Liverpool transfers: Jermain Defoe would really add to Brendan Rodgers's squad, says ex-Reds star David Thompson
Jermain Defoe would really add to the Liverpool squad, according to former Reds midfielder David Thompson.
The England international is expected to return to the Premier League in the January transfer window during the Major League Soccer off-season.
Defoe, who has been sidelined in recent months, has been linked with a permanent move away from Toronto FC after disparaging remarks made by the owner.
Unsurprisingly, the 32-year-old is a reported target for Queens Park Rangers, who are currently managed by his previous coach Harry Redknapp.
But ex-Liverpool midfielder Thompson reckons the former Tottenham Hotspur striker would be a great signing in the January window.
Would love to see Defoe come to Anfield in the window he still has plenty of legs and would really ad to the squad #LFC

Defoe has scored 11 goals in 15 Major League Soccer appearances after completing a move to Toronto from Tottenham in February.
The ex-West Ham United forward netted 152 goals in 427 Premier League appearances before leaving for the MLS.
