Napoli aren’t interest in signing struggling Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli, according to the club’s sporting director.

The Reds striker ended an eight-goal drought on Tuesday night as Balotelli helped inspire a 2-1 comeback against Swansea City in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.

The 24-year-old has scored two goals in 12 appearances in all competitions following his £16m move to Liverpool from AC Milan in the summer transfer window.

Napoli have been linked with a move for the Italy international amid reports Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain could leave Naples in January.

And the Serie A side’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon ruled out a move for the Liverpool striker before wishing Balotelli luck at Anfield.

“It’s a rumour told in Spain, England and Italy but I don’t think it is a possibility,” Bigon told Mediaset.

“Nothing of what has been posted is true.

“Mario Balotelli is a really great player but he has been just signed by Liverpool who belives a lot in him.

“Best wishes to him in his English adventure.”
