Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers confident of helping Mario Balotelli improve
Liverpool are supporting Mario Balotelli, insists Brendan Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers is confident that he can help Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli improve.
The Reds manager stuck with Balotelli for the visit of Hull City despite the 24-year-old’s underwhelming display against Real Madrid.
He is getting the support. That’s what happens when you come to this club
However, Balotelli couldn’t help Liverpool break the deadlock as the Reds were forced to settle for a frustrating stalemate with the Tigers.
The Italy international hasn’t netted in his last eight games, scoring one Champions League goal since his £16m move to Anfield in the summer.
But Liverpool boss Rodgers, whose side are seventh in the table, vowed to continue to support Balotelli.
“You are never too old to learn,” Rodgers told Liverpool Echo.
“They key is if you want to learn. And I think Mario does.
“He is getting the support. That’s what happens when you come to this club. You don’t have any excuses.
“The people here, the supporters, the players, the staff. They will back every (new) player.
“The environment here that has been created is so there are no egos. They just want to improve and do their work. Mario will get that support.”
