Luke Shaw: My dad has swapped allegiances from Chelsea for Man United
Manchester United defender's father changes allegiances after son's summer move
Luke Shaw has revealed that his father has swapped Chelsea for Manchester United after the defender’s summer move to Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old, who is a boyhood Chelsea supporter, was heavily linked with a move to the Blues over the past two seasons.
However, the Kingston upon Thames-born left-back agreed a £27m move to United from Southampton in June.
And following the England international’s switch to the 20-time English champions, his father has swapped allegiances.
“No, no, no. My dad is a United fan now,” Shaw is quoted as saying by London24.
“He’s not Chelsea no more. He is a United fan now and he won’t be too happy because he wanted us to win really badly.”
Shaw faced Chelsea for the first time since his move to Old Trafford on Sunday as Robin van Persie scored a late goal to cancel out Didier Drogba’s second-half opener.
The United teenager earned a reputation as one of England’s most promising players after two impressive seasons in the top-flight with Southampton before his big-money switch.
