Man United 1 Chelsea 1: Jose Mourinho delighted with Blues display
The Chelsea manager heaps praise on his side for their performance at Old Trafford, despite draw
Jose Mourinho insisted that he was delighted with Chelsea’s performance, despite seeing Robin van Persie net a last-gasp equaliser for Manchester United to earn a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
After a goalless first half, veteran striker Didier Drogba gave the Blues the lead at Old Trafford in the 53rd minute.
But Van Persie drilled home a leveller in the final minute of stoppage time after Branslav Ivanovic had been shown a second yellow card for pulling back Angel di Maria.
The result left Chelsea four points clear at the top of the Premier League, and Mourinho felt that there were plenty of positives to take from the game.
“We don’t look to others, we look to ourselves,” said Mourinho.
“Old Trafford is one most dangerous fixtures we’ve had. The result is not the result we want, but the way we performed means we don’t need to look to others.
“After nine matches, to be top of league with four points difference. We have also played away at Manchester United and Manchester City.”
He continued: “The second half was much better. From the start of the first half we showed we wanted to win.
“In the second half we didn’t give them chances they wanted. To come here to Old Trafford the way we did – it was fantastic to my boys.”
