The 25-year-old forward started his first game since rupturing his cruciate ligament during a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup in January.
Walcott, who scored five goals in 13 Premier League games last season, completed the first half against Blackburn Rovers at Boreham Wood FC’s Meadow Park.
And the England international took to Instagram to express his delight to seal a return to action after a difficult nine-month lay-off.
“Felt great to be back on the pitch after a long 9 months,” Walcott wrote on Instagram.
“Thanks to all the @arsenal fans for incredible support and all the Arsenal Medical Team.”
And Southampton legend Le Tissier was quick to respond to Walcott’s social media post, showing his soft spot for the former Saints youth graduate.
“@theowalcott great to see you back mate,” Le Tissier posted.
Walcott’s return is welcome news for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal supporters after Mesut Ozil was ruled out for 10 to 12 weeks with a knee problem last week.
