Mourinho delivers latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Shrewsbury clash
Jose Mourinho is hopeful that Diego Costa will return to action for Chelsea this weekend
Jose Mourinho is hopeful that Diego Costa will be fit for Chelsea’s clash against Queens Park Rangers at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The striker has not featured for the Blues since the 2-0 win over Arsenal earlier this month after returning from international duty with a hamstring strain, before a virus further hampered his recovery.
Costa is set to miss Tuesday’s League Cup fourth round clash against Shrewsbury Town but should be available for this weekend’s clash against the Hoops.
Asked about Costa’s availability for the game at the weekend, Mourinho replied: “I think so. QPR, one week more, I hope so.
“The virus is fine. It was hard when Costa went to hospital and obviously it doesn’t help to recover from the injury. But he didn’t come [to Old Trafford] because of the injury, not because of the virus.
“He aggravated the hamstring because he played two matches in three days and was not with us.”
