Michael Owen and Gary Lineker both tweet their thoughts as Chelsea beat Shrewsbury 2-1 in the League Cup
Chelsea beat Shrewsbury Town 2-1 to reach the fifth round of the League Cup on Tuesday night.
Jose Mourinho’s men took the lead at Greenhous Meadow Stadium when captain for the night Didier Drogba swept in a half-volley four minutes after half-time.
The League Two side fought back and drew level in the 77th minute when substitute Andy Mangan turned home from close range.
However, Chelsea sealed victory when Jermaine Grandison deflected in Willian’s cross as the Premier League leaders booked their place in the next round.
Here is some of the best Twitter reaction from Tuesday night’s fourth-round tie.
Jody Morris (@morriskid) is full of respect for the home side: “Fair play to Shrewsbury..thought they played well and made it hard for us”
Michael Owen (@themichaelowen), meanwhile, wasn’t too impressed by the visitors’ display: “Wasn’t too impressed with Chelsea tonight. Shrewsbury contributed to them looking pretty ordinary.”
Clinton Morrison (@morrisonclinton) delivers his final whistle verdict, including plenty of praise for a certain Ivorian: “Have to give massive credit to Shrewsbury they play football the right way get it down and pass it well manager doing a good job. Drogba what a guy and player leader never stops running at 36 great role model he is the boss when you got other fans clapping you.”
Michael Duberry (@Original_Dubes) chimes in: “Well done @chelseafc but a bigger well done to all the players of @shrewsweb who done themselves proud tonight.”
