Lukas Podolski and Kieran Gibbs both scored in the final two minutes as Arsenal came from behind to secure a vital 2-1 Champions League win against Anderlecht.

After a goalless first half, the Belgian side took the lead in the 71st minute when Honduras winger Andy Najar headed in Dennis Praet’s cross.

Anderlecht missed a number of chances to double their advantage, before Gibbs volleyed home Calum Chambers’ brilliant cross to level in the 89th minute.

Substitute Podolski then completed the comeback when he fired home from close range a minute later to keep Arsenal second in their group.

The win, which came on Arsene Wenger’s 65th birthday, inevitably prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite updates.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey (@aaronramsey) is understandably thrilled: “What a finish to the game! Good to get back to winning ways. Happy to get 90 under my belt. Buzzing for Gibbo and Poldi, great finishes!”

Injured playmaker Mesut Özil (@MesutOzil1088) is clearly happy, too: “goooooaaaaaaaaal!!! yeeeeeees! 2:1 Arsenaaaal!!! what a finish! very important!!! #ANDvAFC #UCL”

Injured Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy @MatDebuchy) is pleased for his team-mates: “Great finish well done guys !!#AndArs#LDC#gunners”

Robbie Savage (@RobbieSavage8) chimes in with some praise: “Fair play to arsenal haven’t played well but kept going and get the win”

As does Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore): “Well done Arsenal. Crap most of the night, bottle when it mattered. Big big result and confidence booster. Got out of jail.”
