Mamadou Sakho will be sidelined for a couple of more weeks after picking up a fresh thigh injury, Liverpool’s assistant manager has confirmed.

The France international hasn’t featured for the Reds since a dramatic penalty shotout victory over Middlesbrough in the third round of Capital One Cup.

Sakho, who suffered the injury in training, had been struggling to secure a place in Brendan Rodgers’s side following the arrival of Dejan Lovren.

Liverpool number two Pascoe revealed Sakho is recovering well from his thigh problem and should be available for selection in November.

“He’s progressing well,” Pascoe told his media conference. “He was unfortunate – he came back in and picked up a similar injury.

“It will be another couple of weeks for Mamadou and then hopefully he’ll be back. As soon as he’s fit and raring to go, he’s available.”

Sakho has scored on goal in 23 Premier League appearances since his £20m move to Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
