Pellegrini delivers latest Man City injury update ahead of Man United clash
David Silva is out for 'three to four weeks' with a knee injury, confirms Manchester City manager
David Silva has been ruled out for “three to four” weeks with a knee injury and will miss Sunday’s Manchester derby, Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed.
The Spain playmaker suffered the problem early on in the 2-0 loss to Newcastle United in the fourth round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
Pellegrini, whose side host their local rivals at Etihad Stadium after two successive defeats, admits that the news is a blow to the Citizens.
Pellegrini said: “David is a very important player but we have a squad and we will have to replace him with another player.”
The Chilean also revealed that midfielder Yaya Toure has been struggling with a minor injury problem ahead of Sunday’s showdown.
He added: “Yaya has a small problem. We’ll see tomorrow [Saturday] but I think he will have no problems to play.”
