Dejan Lovren said that it was “great feeling” to score his first Liverpool goal and send the Reds into the Capital One Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.

The Croatia international, who moved to Liverpool from Southampton in a £20m deal this summer, netted a stoppage-time header to seal a 2-1 victory over Swansea City at Anfield.

Earlier, Lovren hailed Liverpool “great” performance and win to book their place in the last-eight of the competition.

The Swans looked to be progressing to the quarter-finals of the League Cup after Marvin Emnes scored a second-half opener at Anfield.

However, substitute Mario Balotelli came on and scored his second goal of the season with four minutes of normal time remaining before Lovren’s header.

“Great win yesterday. Great perfomance from everyone. Great atmosphere! Well done lads. #YNWA,” Lovren wrote on Instagram.
