Didier Drogba is still proud of his Chelsea team-mates, though
Didier Drogba admitted that he was frustrated to see three points slip away after Manchester United rescued a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
The 36-year-old striker was drafted into Jose Mourinho’s side in the absence of top goal-scorer Diego Costa and France international Loic Remy.
And the Ivory Coast international repaid his manager’s faith, guiding a powerful header past United goalkeeper David De Gea in the 53rd minute.
Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic was sent off for a second bookable offence in stoppage time, and from the ensuing free-kick, United levelled.
Thibaut Courtois managed to save Marouane Fellaini’s initial effort, but prolific striker Robin van Persie guided home the rebound with just over a minute remaining.
And Drogba, who scored his first goal since returning to west London against Maribor on Wednesday night, reflected on the stalemate at Old Trafford.
“Frustrated with the result but the spirit is there!!!Keep going you Bluuuues,” Drogba wrote on Instagram.
Chelsea are five points clear of second-placed Southampton after their point at United.
