Jose Enrique has congratulated on-loan Iago Aspas after the Sevilla striker scored a hat-trick against Sabadell on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Reds manager Brendan Rodgers after a disappointing first season at the Merseyside outfit.

And the struggling striker secured a season-long loan move to Unai Emery’s Sevilla side in the summer, ending his Anfield nightmare.

But the Liverpool manager must be casting a rueful eye in the direction of Seville after the striker’s treble in the Copa del Rey.

The former Celta Viago striker scored his first goal in the 43rd minute before completing his hat-trick after the interval.

And Liverpool left-back Enrique was quick to pay tribute to his former Reds team-mate on Instagram.

“Congratulations Yaguito, you’re a genius. Three goals today. I’m happy for you, you deserve it,” Enrique posted on Instagram.

Aspas opened his Sevilla account earlier this month, scoring in a 2-2 draw with Croatian side Rijeka in the Europa League.
