Raheem Sterling took to Instagram on Tuesday night to post a selfie after the furore surrounding his substitute appearance for England on Sunday.

The Liverpool striker started the Three Lions’ 1-0 win over Estonia on the bench after complaining of “feeling tired” to manager Roy Hodgson before the game.

Sterling’s situation prompted plenty of debate in the 24 hours following the game, with plenty of big names weighing in and having their say.

But the 19-year-old winger appears to be taking the controversy in his stride.

Sterling posted the picture above on Instagram and wrote: “Be yourself don’t please anyone car selfie.”

Sterling has scored three goals and made two assists in seven Premier League games for Liverpool this season.
