Brazil international trained with Liverpool team-mates on Wednesday
Lucas Leiva has taken to Instagram to reassure Liverpool supporters he is “keeping fit” ahead of the visit of Hull City on Saturday.
The Brazil international didn’t feature for the Reds on Wednesday night as Real Madrid were emphatic 3-0 winners at Anfield in the Champions League.
Lucas has been limited to three Premier League appearances this season, playing out a 15-minute cameo against West Bromwich Albion earlier this month.
But the 27-year-old has lost none of his enthusiasm for training as the Liverpool midfielder looks to impress Rodgers in first-team training at Melwood on Thursday.
“Keeping fit!!” Lucas posted on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Rodgers admitted the Reds need to improve defensively after conceding 19 goals in 12 games in all competitions.
“As a team we need to be better. We all pride ourselves on clean sheets but we need to be more competitive and more aggressive as a team,” Rodgers said.
“That was a disappointment from the Real Madrid game. A large number of the goals we conceded have been soft so it is our job to improve our record.”
