Arsenal striker scored a stoppage-time winner against Anderlecht
Lukas Podolski praised Arsenal for “fighting until the end” after his last-gasp strike sealed a 2-1 win against Anderlecht.
The Germany international finished from close range after left-back Kieran Gibbs had cancelled out Honduras winger Andy Najar’s second-half opener.
And the 29-year-old, who has been linked with a move away from The Emirates, was thrilled with a big win for the north London side.
Podolski wrote on Instagram: “Big win – We fight until the end!! Thanks to all the fans who support & believe in me!!”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger underlined Podolski’s continued importance to the Gunners following the 2-1 victory.
“We know Podolski can always score. He is frustrated and I understand that of course.
“But he’s important as well and he showed that tonight and he will be important in the coming months. It took him a while to get back to a good physical level [after the World Cup] and now he’s nearly there.”
