The Netherlands international has been regularly linked with the Red Devils since his former national manager Louis van Gaal took over at Old Trafford in May.
United have been linked with a host of midfielders in recent months, including Strootman and Juventus talisman Arturo Vidal ahead of the January transfer window.
And the Dutch star, who moved to Roma from PSV Eindhoven last summer, is continuing his recovery from a knee injury that ruled the talismanic midfielder out of the World Cup.
Strootman posted on Instagram: “Nice feeling to do some work with the team”
Last week, Roma owner James Pallotta has moved to end speculation surrounding Strootman’s future in the Italian capital.
“It is just not happening. We don’t have any interest in selling Kevin,” Pallotta is quoted as saying by Daily Mirror.
“Obviously, as business people, when people call us and say, ‘We want your player’, you are going to listen to them. You have to do that, that is the business side.
“That doesn’t mean you are going to make a decision that £75m [means] bang, you hit the bid. That is not the way it is going work, it is not the way it does work with us.
“In Kevin’s case, internally, we have never had a discussion that went ‘Let’s sell Kevin’. Not to anybody, let alone Man United.”
