Dejan Lovren scored a stoppage-time winner to complete Liverpool’s late comeback against Swansea City in the Capital One Cup fourth round.

Substitute Mario Balotelli netted his first goal in eight games and just his second strike of the season in the 86th minute to cancel out Marvin Emnes’s second-half opener at Anfield.

Swansea defender Federico Fernandez was sent off as the tie entered into injury-time before Lovren scored his first Liverpool goal to seal a 2-1 win.

“Mario is working hard in training and he got his just rewards by coming on and getting the goal,” Liverpool assistant Colin Pascoe said after Balotelli’s goal.

“Of course [it’s something for him to build on]. He works hard and I’m glad he got the goal.”
