Chelsea youngster thanks the travelling Blues fans for their support
Nathan Ake was relieved to get through a “difficult game” after Chelsea were 2-1 winners at Shrewsbury Town.
Stand-in Blues captain Didier Drogba broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with his third goal of the week.
However, the League Two side fought back and drew level in the 77th minute when substitute Andy Mangan turned home from close range.
However, Chelsea were soon in front again after Jermaine Grandison deflected Willian’s cross home to seal victory for the Premier League leaders.
And Ake, who was making his third appearance of the season, praised the Blues for getting through a tough game in the Capital One Cup.
“Difficult game but we came out with a win! On to the next round. Thanks for your support!” Ake wrote on Instagram.
Chelsea legend joined Ake by taking to Instagram following the win, hailing the west London side’s “great spirit”.
Drogba wrote on Instagram: “Difficult conditions, great opposition team but we still showed great spirit to qualify for the next round. Well done to @oscar_emboaba @johnterry.26 @hazardeden_10 @domsolanke @willianborges88 @petrcech @mosalah22 @andreschuerrle @filipeluis”
