Radamel Falcao ‘very close’ to joining Juventus before Man United move
Juventus claim that they were on the verge of signing Radamel Falcao ahead of Manchester United
Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has claimed that Radamel Falcao was on the verge of signing for the Serie A club before Manchester United swept in to bring the striker to Old Trafford.
Falcao joined United on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day as Louis van Gaal bolstered his attacking options at Old Trafford.
However, Marotta says that the Colombia international was “very close” to joining Juve before United’s last-ditch move to bring the striker to the Premier League.
“We were very close to his coming and Falcao himself had a preference for a transfer to Juventus,” Marotta told Domenica Sportiva.
“But suddenly United reached an agreement allowing them to take the player permanently. Even though that is all a bit vague.
“We followed Falcao, but since his departure to United there has been no more contact.”
