Ryan Giggs has revealed that Manchester United club-record signing Angel di Maria doesn’t need a lot of coaching.

The Argentina international signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils in August after United agreed a £59.7m with Real Madrid for the winger’s services.

Di Maria has made an immediate impact at the 20-time English champions since his British record switch, scoring three goals and making three assists in five appearances.

And United assistant manager Giggs described the 26-year-old forward as a “free spirit”, lavishing praise on the Red Devils signing.

“You don’t need to do a lot with him,” Giggs told the Manchester Evening News.

“He’s that sort of player, he’s a free spirit. He will take you from box to box really quickly and he will create and score goals.

“He gets bums off seats and he excites me. He’s the kind of player you love to watch.”
