Nabil Bentaleb believes Mauricio Pochettino has created a winning spirit at Tottenham Hotspur this season.

The north London side have made a promising if unspectacular start to the campaign under the Argentina, who was named as Tim Sherwood’s replacement in May.

Everyone wants to win and everyone then takes that spirit on to the pitch. We are all hungry for success

Spurs are ninth in the Premier League table after winning just three of their eight Premier League games, losing 4-1 to Manchester City last weekend.

But Algeria international Bentaleb is confident the new Spurs manager is cultivating a new mentality at White Hart Lane which will pay dividends.

“The head coach (Mauricio Pochettino) has come in with a new mentality and I think it’s really good for us. Is the mentality different from last season? Yes, it probably is,” Bentaleb told London Evening Standard.

“There is a winning spirit now. Of course, you always want to win but there are ways of doing it, ways to prepare. We train very hard, and that is where everything starts.

“In those sessions, everyone wants to win and everyone then takes that spirit on to the pitch. We are all hungry for success.”

Tottenham face Greek minnows Asteras Tripolis at White Hart Lane in the Europa League on Thursday night.
