Charlie Nicholas reckons Swansea City can cause an upset and beat Liverpool in their Capital One Cup fourth-round tie on Tuesday.

The Reds have made a stuttering start to the season which continued at the weekend as Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Hull City.

Swansea, meanwhile, returned to winning ways on Saturday as Wilfried Bony’s brace sealed a 2-0 victory over Leicester City.

And former Arsenal legend reckons high-flying Swansea could be too much for Brendan Rodgers’s struggling side at Anfield.

“They [Liverpool] need a spark, a lift,” Nicholas told Sky Sports News HQ.

“They don’t have [Daniel] Sturridge and have a lack of choices they can pick.

“Liverpool are really struggling for form. I think in Wilfried Bony, a very big danger is coming Liverpool’s way.

“I could see this going to extra time and Swansea winning it.”

Swansea are in sixth place in the Premier League table ahead of seventh-placed Liverpool on goal difference.
