Sam Allardyce was rewarded for masterminding West Ham United’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City with a big kiss from Hammer supporter and comedian Russell Brand.

The east London surged into a first-half lead after Morgan Amfalitano capitalised on a mix-up between Joe Hart and Pablo Zabaleta to finish from close range at Upton Park.

The Hammers, who have already beaten Liverpool this season, doubled their lead through Diafra Sakho before David Silva halved the deficit with 11 minutes remaining.

And Brand, who regularly frequents Boylen Park to watch his beloved Hammers, gatecrashed Allardyce’s post-match interview to give Big Sam an affectionate kiss.

Brand said: “Yes Sam, yes Sam! Give the man the credit he deserves!”

The West Ham manager seemed to enjoy it, too.

“I’ve made it now,” says Allardyce, “that’s never happened before.”
