Ander Herrera has declared his intention to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place after the Spaniard was linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent days.

Reports in the British media this week have claimed that Herrera, who only joined United in the summer, could be set to leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window due to his lack of playing time.

The Spaniard has been an unused substitute in United’s last four matches and has only played 45 minutes since suffering rib injury against West Ham United in September.

But the midfielder insists that he is prepared to fight for his place at Old Trafford.

“Of course I want to play as does every player, but I am at Manchester United where there are a lot of good players,” Herrera told MUTV.

“I am a lucky guy to be here and I have to see these moments as a challenge for me.”
