Arsenal transfers: Lukas Podolski frustrated at lack of opportunities
Lukas Podolski is tired of wrapping himself up in coat, hat and scarf on Arsenal bench
Lukas Podolski says he is tired of sitting on the bench wrapped up in his “winter coat, hat and scarf” to watch his Arsenal team-mates play.
The Germany international has struggled to hold down a starting place at The Emirates this season following the summer arrivals of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.
Podolski, who moved to the north London side from Cologne in 2012, has made four substitute appearances in the Premier League, as well as playing three Champions League cameo roles.
And the 29-year-old is growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities at Arsenal, hinting at a possible exit in the January transfer window.
“I’ve spent the last four months making brief appearances,” Podolski is quoted as saying.
“I’ve had to wrap myself up warm in my winter coat with my hat and scarf on to watch the others playing.
“I would rather show Arsenal what I am capable if, but this chance to show what I can do is not being given to me.
“I want to play football for many years to come so am I meant just to say everything’s fine and sit my contract out?”
