Aston Villa 1 Tottenham 2: My best Spurs moment, declares Harry Kane
Spurs striker Harry Kane revels in his dramatic winner at Villa Park
Harry Kane said his dramatic Villa Park winner was one of his best Tottenham Hotspur moments after inspiring Spurs to a 2-1 comeback win.
Andreas Weimann edged Villa ahead in the first half as the Austria international scored his first goal in 547 minutes of Premier League action.
I did that [took my chance] and it is all smiles in the dressing room now
However, the game was turned on its head when Christian Benteke was sent off for raising his hands in a confrontation with Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason.
And Belgium international Nacer Chadli equalised in the 84th minute before substitute Kane scored a deflected free-kick on the stroke of full-time.
“It was one of my best moments in a Spurs shirt in my career so far. It was a moment I won’t forget,” Kane told Sky Sports.
On his manager’s advice upon his introduction, Kane added: “He just said to play because there is plenty of time left. He said if I get the chance, take one. I did that and it is all smiles in the dressing room now.
On whether Erik Lamela wanted to take the free-kick, Kane revealed: “He wanted it. He took the one before so I said this one can be mine. Luckily it ended up in the back of the net.”
Kane failed to secure a starting place despite scoring six goals in his last six games in all competitions.
And the England Under-21 international is hoping his strike can improve his chances of securing a regular spot.
“I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing. It is a great win today,” Kane continued.
