Xavi has described Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere as one of England’s best players.

The 22-year-old Gunners star has already notched up 19 appearances for club and country this season, scoring one goal and making one assist.

I think Jack Wilshere is an amazing player, very good.

Barcelona veteran Xavi has been impressed by the England international’s talent, and also singled out Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling as one of the Three Lions’ brightest prospects.

Asked who his favourite current English player is, Xavi told BBC Sport: “It’s difficult.

“There is a lot of talent out there and I think Jack Wilshere is an amazing player, very good.

“Raheem Sterling has a great future ahead of him. Then there’s the older guys such as Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and John Terry. They’re part of English history, winning every single title.”
