Cesc Fabregas has hailed Chelsea’s brilliant performance as the Blues were 5-0 winners against Schalke on Tuesday night.

John Terry and Willian put the Blues in charge and Jan Kirchoff’s own goal sealed a 3-0 half-time lead, before Didier Drogba and Ramires sealed an emphatic win for the visitors.

We controlled the tempo, so I think it was a brilliant performance

And Chelsea midfielder Fabregas was quick to heap praise on Jose Mourinho’s side after the west London outfit booked their place in the knockout stage of the competition.

“I think we approached the game in a very consistent way. We were very aggressive from the beginning. I think we played great in the first five minutes,” Fabregas told UEFA.com.

“We scored two quick goals and that helped a lot in the end because we controlled the game as we wanted – whether quick or slow, we controlled the tempo, so I think it was a brilliant performance.”

Chelsea are six points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
