Jose Mourinho believes that Cesc Fabregas’ impressive form this season is down to his “happiness” playing for Chelsea.

The Spaniard has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers since his £27m transfer to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona in the summer.

The 27-year-old, who has made 10 assists and scored one goal in 12 Premier League games this season, recently said that he feels like he is playing some of the best football of his career with the west London club.

And asked about Fabregas’ comments, Mourinho replied: “I don’t want to speak about their careers in other clubs, with other players and under other managers. I don’t think it’s my job to do that.

“But, you know, if Fabregas says that, a player who spent all his career playing at big clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona, it must mean something.

“Even if he didn’t say that, you see the way he’s playing and you feel happiness.

“You don’t need to use words to look at him and see happiness in the way he’s playing, in his body language on the pitch.

“I think this is basically the way everybody is feeling. People are confident. People are happy to play the way they are playing. This is good.”
