Mauricio Pochettino continued the disappointing start to his Tottenham Hotspur reign after Stoke City were surprise 2-1 winners at White Hart Lane.

Potters strikers Bojan Krkic and Jonathan Walters scored in the first half to put the away side in charge, Nacer Chadli halved the deficit before Kyle Naughton was sent off in the final six minutes.

And here is a selection of our favourite social media reaction from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order to Stoke’s impressive win.

Former Palace forward Mark Bright (@Mark__Bright): “Boom….. Bojan run from halfway line shot slightly deflection… #stoke one up at Spurs”

Spurs legend Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) is keeping tabs on Sunday’s football: “Having been home alone a while now, it’s made me wonder what on earth would I do if I didn’t love football?”

Former Southampton playmaker Matt Le Tissier (@mattletiss7) hails Stoke’s good form: “Stoke into top half too!”

Ex-Potters defender Danny Higginbotham (@Higginbotham05) felt Spurs played into Stoke’s hands: “What did I say about the mighty potters. Great win and spurs high line was always going to suit stokes counter attacking style.”

Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic (@asmir1) can go into the international break with a smile on his face: “Huge win for us today! Fantastic effort by all. Great support by the fans, safe trip back! Onto international duty now! #potternation”

Finally, Stoke striker Peter Crouch (@petercrouch) thanks Spurs fans for their pleasant welcome for the ex-Tottenham man: “Amazing performance from @stokecity today top draw!! Thankyou for the reception @SpursOfficial fans and as always stoke so loud!!! #SCFC”
