Daniel Sturridge has Michael Owen qualities, says ex-Liverpool striker
Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey says Daniel Sturridge will provide the Reds with massive boost
Emile Heskey says Daniel Sturridge has the same qualities as Liverpool legend Michael Owen.
The Reds striker is nearing a return to first-team action after stepping up his rehabilitation from thigh and calf injuries.
Having Sturridge coming back will probably give them a little bit of a spark
Sturridge, who scored 21 goals in 29 Premier League games last season, hasn’t featured for Liverpool since a 3-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.
And former Reds striker Heskey reckons the England international will provide the Merseyside outfit with a huge boost.
“It will be massive,” Heskey told Liverpool’s website. “He has got the qualities that Michael [Owen] had when I was playing – when he’s not there, you certainly do miss him.
“And when he comes back, he gives you a lift. He doesn’t necessarily have to perform well, but he actually gives you a lift to go and perform yourself.
“Having Sturridge coming back will probably give them a little bit of a spark and hopefully kick them into gear to actually go on a little bit of a run.”
