Emmanuel Adebayor has blasted Tottenham Hotspur supporters for booing their own players at White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat by Stoke City in north London on Sunday.

When you are playing at home and your own fans start booing you after a few minutes then it is harder

Spurs have already been defeated in four home games this season, losing to Liverpool, West Brom, Newcastle and Stoke.

And Adebayor, who has scored two goals in 10 league appearances, risked the wrath of the club’s fans after criticising the Tottenham supporters.

“It might be better to play away at the moment,” Adebayor quoted as saying.

“At least you know you are going to be having the majority of opposition fans booing, rather than our own fans.”

Adebayor added: “Will it help playing away from home? To be honest, I think so.

“And I am not just talking about me, I am speaking on behalf of all the players.

“When you are playing at home and your own fans start booing you after a few minutes then it is harder.

“It is like going through a sad moment and your family not welcoming you home – that’s the worst thing ever because you have nowhere to go.”

Does Emmanuel Adebayor have a point?
