Joachim Low has told Lukas Podolski that he needs to “have a think” about his situation at Arsenal.

The Germany international’s future has been a source of speculation in recent months due to his lack of playing time at the north London club.

The 29-year-old has only featured in four Premier League games and is yet to start a match in the top flight for Arsene Wenger’s side this term.

Despite his lack of playing time, Germany boss Low intends to star the forward against minnows Gibraltar on Friday.

“It’s in my plans that Podolski will play from the start,” Low said.

“I’m aware he doesn’t play a lot right now for Arsenal. He needs to play competitive games. Sometimes he lacks the physical condition to play the full 90 minutes.

“He has to think about his situation. I’m still convinced about his abilities, but he needs high intensity.”
