Gus Poyet believes that his Sunderland side have what it takes to become the first team to beat Chelsea this season.

The Black Cats won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge last season and host the Blues at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Chelsea have not lost any of their 12 top-flight games this term, but Poyet is convinced that Sunderland can be the first team to upset Jose Mourinho’s men.

“I think from now until the end of the season, everyone is going to try to be the one who beats Chelsea first,” said Poyet.

“Now it’s our opportunity and let’s see if we can take it.

“We need to be spot-on – don’t make any mistakes, be good, organised and be brave on the ball so you’re not defending all the time.

“There are plenty of things that we need to do really well on the day. But we’ve done it in the past, so hopefully we can do it again.”

Will Sunderland beat Chelsea?
